Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Philippians 4:8

our VISION

Evergreen Classical School provides a rigorous, college-preparatory, Biblically-sound hybrid school education to train students using the Classical model. Classical board members, staff, and families come from a variety of churches and denominations, and we agree on the Statement of Faith.

Evergreen Classical School’s chief end is to teach our students to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We disciple students by equipping them with the skills necessary for discerning Truth and pursuing wisdom. Our students will purposefully and passionately influence their communities for Christ by evaluating all human knowledge and experience in light of Scripture.

We present the following as the goals of this great enterprise with God’s grace:

+ Evergreen Students will ...

  • Claim Christ as their Lord and Savior, recognizing Him as the wellspring of all things that are True, Good, and Beautiful.
  • Recognize that God made man in His image and therefore strive to reflect Him in all things.
  • Think clearly, listen carefully with discernment, and reason persuasively.
  • Be lifelong learners and participate in the “great conversation,” all while being socially graceful and spiritually gracious.
  • Evaluate all human knowledge and experience in the light of Scripture, doing so with eagerness and joyful submission to God, and giving a defense for their hope with gentleness and fear. (1 Peter 3:15)
  • Develop a heart for the lost and the courage to speak warning to those stumbling towards destruction.
  • Discern the heart of true religion, with humility and gratitude to God.

+ Evergreen faculty, staff, and administration will ...

  • Live a life centered on Christ.
  • Possess maturity in Christ, growing in the knowledge of God, with a desire that their own children walk rightly with the Lord.
  • Partner with parents in the educational endeavor of Evergreen, and undertake the task of raising children in the admonition of the Lord with humility and gratitude to God.
  • Understand Classical, Christian education, how it works in their classroom, and integrate it in their lives.
  • Possess a lifelong hunger to learn and grow, and be committed to professional and diligent work as well as create a loving classroom environment.
  • Encourage, coach, and nurture new staff in their pursuit of God, and serve as academic mentors to students.

+ Evergreen parents and families will ...

  • Pursue a life of holiness, growth, and maturity in Christ personally and communally in their families.
  • Embrace and implement the educational philosophy and practices of Evergreen in home instruction.
  • Possess a sense of responsibility for the school by cultivating a Christ-like community aiming to be well informed about the goals of our Christian, Classical and Collaborative approach.
  • Desire excitedly to grow and be involved in the school, being quick to encourage one another to love and do good works.

+ The larger community recognizes that Evergreen will ...

  • Partner with local churches, and support them in their aims to spur one another in the knowledge of the Lord seeking to exemplify the unity of the body of Christ by bringing honor to our Lord in all endeavors.
  • Remain above reproach in all business dealings and conduct themselves with integrity and grace.

Christian, Classical, and Collaborative

Christian

Our desire is to create an environment in which the Holy Spirit invites our students to experience the fullness of Christ with their hearts, minds, and bodies. We do this by worshiping the Trinity as image bearers. The common thread that brings life to our lessons and educational experiences is to make much of God . We desire to see things as God sees them in community together as Evergreen staff, students, and parents.

Classical

A Classical education is one that dates back to the Greek and Roman tradition of educating for the purpose of virtue and a life of goodness. The three classical virtues Truth, Goodness, and Beauty are what motivates the pursuit of wisdom. In the Classical education movement the three liberal arts of the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric) are used to complement a child’s developmental stages.

Collaborative

Parents and teachers work together through this blended model to pursue the Christian and Classical education. As assistants to parents in educating their children, teachers labor in loco parentis, or "in the place of the parent," on campus days to collaboratively form students. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students enjoy a classroom environment with trained teachers while on Mondays and Wednesdays, students have instruction with guided lessons and provided curriculum led by the parent (co-teacher).
